Authentic Moments
We believe in capturing the real and organic moments so that you can remember this life-changing time forever. Many newborn and maternity photographers like to crowd the images with props to give them more pizazz (and we certainly love to use props too!) but we don’t think that a beautiful, timeless image needs them.
Capturing the raw, genuine emotion between you and your baby is what we’re good at, and preserving the essence of the moment will be more meaningful to you in the long run. Rather than posing, we prefer prompting. We love real moments of tears of joy, spontaneity, silliness, giggles, and of course, love. Regardless of where your home is, you’ll always be able to hang your timeless images from Sunrise studios on your wall.

Speedy Responses
We’ve all experienced that frustrating feeling of contacting a company, needing a quick response to get something scheduled and off your mind, only to be greeted with, well, no response for days or ever. Sunrise Studios guarantees a 30 minute response time or less to texts, emails or calls. And unless we’re holding a session, we’ll pick up the call right away, or call you back within a few minutes. Best part? We’re on call 24/7 so if you have some free time and need an urgent shoot because a big milestone has been reached with your baby (perhaps your little one just crawled for the first time!) and want to schedule a photoshoot ASAP, we’re here for you.

Safety is #1
Newborn babies are just so teeny tiny when they arrive and as a parent, their delicateness can sometimes put you on edge, especially when meeting new people and going to new spaces. We take safety very seriously, so our Sunrise photographers are certified in emergency child care first aid. Of course during a photoshoot in a safe location there’s nothing to worry about, but should anything arise, we know what to do and we’re here to support you.

We Come To You
Some of our clients have said that after having a baby especially within the first couple of weeks, they sometimes don’t feel like leaving their house to travel very far for a session - so we come to you. We can come to your house, or another location of your choice, and we bring a portable studio with all of our props to you. We travel all around the Lower Mainland - Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Langley and Abbotsford - to meet our clients for their Maternity or Newborn Baby photography sessions. We’ve even gone on exciting outings with our customers to some exciting locations like hikes around the North Shore or to the PNE for some fun fair shots.

Haven’t had a chance to run to the bank for cash? No worries, we take e-transfer. Run out of cheques? No problem, we take credit card payments. At Sunrise Studio, we know how annoying it can be when a vendor can’t take a form of payment that you were planning on, so we accept all forms of payment; cash, cheque, credit card or e-transfer.

Video-Chat with us!
We all live busy lives these days so why not try to save a bit of time at your photoshoot by video-chatting with us prior to the session? You can request a video chat session with one of our Sunrise Studio experts to plan the themes of your newborn, baby or maternity photoshoot. Your photos are about you - we want to bring out you and your baby’s essence & individuality - so getting to know you in advance is always a plus! We can also plan the colours, decorations, props and outfits together so that you have a cohesive theme for your session. Video-chat allows us to see the location and space prior to your shoot so that we can plan the images and envision decorating the space. This is helpful so that we on the day we can maximize time to do what we came for - taking photos of your beautiful selves!

We know that in the newborn, baby & maternity landscape the word “authentic” is thrown around like it’s nobody’s business. But what does this mean? At Sunrise Studios, we take pride in capturing the most natural and organic moments during your session. We aim to freeze-frame the raw and genuine emotions you’re feeling at this wonderful time. Complicated posing, extravagant props and elaborate decorations are incredible (and we do all that too!), but we aim to keep the session as natural and low-key as possible to capture those precious moments. We also do not over-edit our images. It’s nice to remember these moments without big alterations in how our families look. Newborns, babies and mommas-to-be are perfect as they come, and we want to capture that.

Introducing a new baby into the world is a life-changing event that you’ll never want to forget! Let’s capture the first few moments of their life and as you connect with your new family member with beautiful and professional images that will last forever. Newborn babies develop so fast so the ideal time to schedule your newborn baby session is between 5-10 days, while they’re still all sleepy and snuggly. Having said that though, baby photos at any age are beautiful and lots of fun!
We like to focus on capturing the authentic experience with you and your baby so that years later when you look at the photographs, you cherish those specific moments. We create timeless images by making your baby the focus (and you, if you decide to be in the photos!). We use neutral colours with simple poses and props, so to not detract from your newborn babe. We will help plan the theme with you before hand to decide on wardrobe options and we have a variety of props for you to choose from to decorate the set.
We aim to be like a fly on the wall during the session and use a photojournalistic approach, as well as tight close ups to capture the real, intimate moments and emotion between you and your baby.
We bring the studio to you! Shooting in your home or a location of your choice allows you to feel most comfortable and gives your photos a more personal and unique feel.

Let’s face it, every pregnant woman is gorgeous and absolutely miraculous. Can you believe that women are able to create new life in their bodies? That blows our minds. What a better way to celebrate your beautiful body than to create some gorgeous images with us?!
Pregnant women are basically magic to us, and we aim to capture that. At Sunrise Studios, we want to ensure that your maternity photography shoot is exactly what you want it to be. We tailor the experience and the vibe to your personal essence, to get the photographs you’re imagining. Whether you’re imagining a glamorous theme to feel like the queen that you are, or a more classic theme to highlight your natural glow, we will help plan the shoot with you before hand to decide on wardrobe options and we have a variety of props for you to choose from to decorate the set.
You should be taking photos throughout your entire pregnancy adventure to document the growth at every stage. We can come to capture moments early in your pregnancy journey or in later trimesters. We can come be with you to take photos anywhere from your first ultra-sound appointment to the day before you’re due. We recommend that a great time to do your maternity photo session is the late second trimester or early third so that you’re showing but not uncomfortably so.

You may have seen this big trend while doing your research to find your photography studio. The Cake Smash session is always a very fun and adorable experience for you and your baby to celebrate your little one's first year on this planet.
What should you expect for the cake smash photography session? Leading up to the scheduled session we will make all the arrangements to bring props such as banners, flags or balloons to decorate with your chosen theme and colour scheme in mind.
On the day, we begin with a regular portrait session to ensure that we're capturing your baby prior to getting covered in frosting! We then will decorate a cute set in your home to match the theme we decide on together, and we allow your toddler to go to town on the cake. The first year mark is a huge milestone that you’ll never want to forget, let’s capture this significant moment together with some exciting fun for your baby!
